It is a popular and flavored refreshing beverage made with a blend of almonds and other nuts mixed with warm or cold full cream milk. In other words, Badam Milk or Almond Milk is a popular healthy beverage drink that is typically offered to friends and family when they visit your home. It can also be an ideal alternative to the addictive coffee or tea, particularly in the evening. Due to the combination of nuts, it is loaded with nutrients, vitamins, and minerals which is a perfect healthy drink for growing kids and adults. There are myriad ways that simple Badam Milk can be prepared, but the most common way is to mix the premade badam powder with warm milk. The badam powder could be just almond powder, or it could be a combination of nuts. In addition, it can also include additional flavors like cardamom, saffron strands, and vanilla bean sticks. The other most common way to serve this is a chilled version. It could also be extended to make it as iced candy or even mixed with crushed ice. Typically, it carries mild sweetness from the added sugar, but the sweetness can be altered as per individual preferences.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup badam
  • 6 cashew
  • 3 tsp pistachios
  • 3 pods cardamom
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp kesar

Instructions

  1. First, in a heavy-bottomed pan dry roast ½ cup badam, 6 cashew, 3 tsp pistachios and 3 pods cardamom.
  2. Dry roast on low flame until the nuts turn crunchy.
  3. Cool completely, pulse, and grind to a coarse powder.
  4. Now add 2 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp milk powder, ½ tsp turmeric, and ½ tsp kesar.
  5. Grind to fine powder. make sure to pulse and grind to prevent nuts from releasing oil.
  6. Transfer to an airtight container and store Instant Badam Mix for up to 3 months. You can also top with chopped nuts to get crunchy bites in the milk.
  7. To prepare badam milk from the badam mix, in a saucepan heat 2 cup of milk.
  8. Stir and get the milk to a boil.
  9. Once the milk comes to a boil, add 2 tbsp prepared badam mix.
  10. Stir well making sure everything is well combined.
  11. Boil for 2 minutes, or until the milk thickens slightly.
  12. Finally, enjoy Instnat Badam Milk or you can refrigerate and enjoy it chilled.
