It is a classic North Indian dessert recipe with mango pulp, condensed milk, and solids. Mango Malai Kulfi is a popular, kid-friendly, creamy, and decadent dessert known for its balanced sweetness and mild mango sourness. It is a perfect summer treat that can be prepared quickly and requires only three ingredients. In other words, it is a basic extension of the famous malai kulfi with an additional mango flavour. There are many different ways to make this classic Mango Kulfi Dessert. The basic way is to add mango pulp directly to the milk solids and deep-freeze it. This is the traditional approach, but it can take longer to cook. However, it can also be made as a no-cook dessert by mixing mango pulp with condensed milk. Further, it can also be made by adding mango cubes to Basundi dessert and then deep-freezing it.

Ingredients

  • 1 litre milk
  • ¼ cup custard powder
  • ½ cup condensed milk
  • 1 cup mango pulp
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder

Instructions

  1. Firstly, in a large kadai, heat 1 litre of milk and boil it until it thickens slightly.
  2. Prepare a custard mixture by mixing ¼ cup custard powder in ½ cup milk.
  3. Pour the custard mixture into the boiled milk and mix well.
  4. Continue to cook till the milk thickens slightly.
  5. Also, add ½ cup condensed milk and cook well.
  6. Cool completely till the milk thickens.
  7. Further add 1 cup mango pulp, ¼ tsp cardamom powder and mix well.
  8. Pour the kulfi mixture into kulfi moulds. If you do not have moulds, you can pour it into matka or glass cups.
  9. Cover and freeze for 8 hours or until it sets completely.
  10. After 8 hours, the kulfi is set completely and ready to serve.
  11. Finally, garnish the Mango Kulfi Recipe with a few chopped pistachios and enjoy.
